Virtual Learning With The DNA Geek!

Do you enjoy The DNA Geek‘s blog?  Do you like asking questions and learning from other students in live classes?  Then you might like to attend an occasional lecture series geared toward best practices in genetic genealogy.  Best of all, the series is virtual, so you can participate from the comfort of your own home!

The virtual series will feature lectures by The Geek herself, Dr. Leah Larkin, as well as guest lectures by up-and-coming speakers from around the world.

The classes will feature:

  • High-quality content and visuals;
  • Live, classroom-style talks, so you can ask questions and reinforce your learning as we go;
  • Handouts with a summary of the material, a list of resources, and helpful exercises;
  • Small class sizes;
  • A teaching assistant to help things run smoothly;
  • A variety of times to allow you to participate, no matter where you live;
  • Informal chat time before and after the lesson;
  • Live captioning for the hearing-impaired; and
  • Affordable prices.

The first talk in the series will be “From Madness to Method: Making Sense of your DNA Results.”  We all know that genetic genealogy can be confusing.  In this session, we will learn about types of DNA, where to test, organization strategies, and third-party tools to solve your brick wall questions.  This talk is geared toward beginner and intermediate genetic genealogists.

  1. Hi Leah – This sounds interesting, but there isn’t enough information – or at least that I could find.

    Did you want us to register or just attend the first session cold? Is there a price for the first one? Others? Can we join one section, pick and choose, or have to register for all? The post seemed incomplete and I did not find anything on your website.

    Thank you,

    1. You can register for either session using the links in the post. The topics are meant to be á la carte, so each one stands on its own and you can pick and choose the things that interest you.

  2. Hi Leah:
    I am very interested but have not seen the answer to the question about cost in any of your answers or how it can be paid. Can you tell us.

    Thanks
